What to expect from a birth preparation session:

  • 90 minute one-on-one session
  • Birth partners or spouses encouraged to come
  • Education on labor and birth mechanics in relation to the pelvis, pelvic floor, and positions
  • Review and practice of pushing techniques.
  • Detailed pelvic floor assessment with push practice to ensure proper coordination
  • Labor & birth position review/practice
  • Birth prep exercise program for hips, pelvis, pelvic floor to facilitate labor and birth
  • Hands-on partner skills for use during labor
  • Postpartum planning and recovery programming for vaginal and cesarean births

Other things to note:

  • Birth prep sessions are not meant to treat symptoms; if you’re looking to treat symptoms, schedule an evaluation
  • Birth prep sessions are best planned after 30 weeks
  • Sessions can and will be adapted based on your birth plans… birth is a physical process no matter how your baby comes out! (planned cesarean, unmedicated, medicated, hospital births, home births, birth center births, etc).
